System Requirements

Hardware

Chef Automate has the following minimum system requirements:

• 16 GB of RAM
• 80 GB of disk space for the /hab directory, which stores Chef Habitat packages, service data, and application artifacts
• 4 vCPUs

Operating system

Chef Automate has the following operating system requirements:

• A Linux operating system with kernel version 3.2 or later
• systemd as the init system
• The useradd command-line utility for creating user accounts
• Either curl or wget for downloading installation assets

Supported browsers

Chef Automate supports the current browser versions for Chrome, Edge, and Firefox. Chef Automate doesn’t support other browsers and may not be compatible with older browser versions.
